Activity based simulation – A modeling tool for new teaching-learning strategies

Teaching and learning Discrete Event Simulation (DES) at universities within the context of undergraduate studies in industrial engineering management is not thoroughly covered literature. In fact, most strategies tend to solely address commercial tools, resulting on too much focus syntax, semantics getting used interface a particular tool, rather than simulation fundamental concepts. light this, this paper proposes which allows students professors use Activity Cycle Diagrams (ACDs) model systems with comprehensive approach, focusing elements simulation, allowing thereafter corresponding code be extracted experiments conducted. The tool described its applicability demonstrated some example cases. effort needed develop ACDs requires complete understanding real system simultaneously favours full comprehension elements, hence portraying an adequate teaching strategy pondered.
